Medium Voltage Active Voltage Conditioner

The Active Voltage conditioner (AVC) can be applied at Medium Voltage(MV) from 1kV up to 36kV with loads from 1 MVA to 50MVA.

It can be applied to a complete facility or to part of a facility network or to a specific critical MV load.

High efficiency >98% High power voltage conditioning

No Storage

  • No fault contribution
  • Able to correct for multiple sequential sags as there is no recharge time
  • No resonance with system capacitors
  • Does not saturate downstream distribution transformers

Continuous correction of:

  • 10% under-voltage—protection from utility voltage reductions
  • Voltage balance
  • Voltage flicker
  • Voltage harmonics - see details

30 seconds (not cycles) correction of:

  • Up to 50% 3-phase voltage sags
  • Up to 83% 1-phase voltage sags

Outdoor enclosure, for all environments

Easy 3-wire in 3-wire out installation

Facility wide or load dedicated solutions.

It is usually more economical to  focus on dedicated loads if total critical load to be protected is less than 80% of total plant load.

Transmission Line Event @ 69kV seen at 26.4kV load

Transmission line fault reflected through 26.4 kV utility distribution system would have caused production stoppage with 1 phase down to 58% of nominal voltage. The Active Voltage Conditioner protected the facility providing output voltages > 96% so no production interruption occurred.

Power sags and brownouts create serious and costly production problems.power solutions for paper mills

26kV 2MVA AVC protects a high speed bottling plant

Distribution Line Event at 26.4 kV

A two phase sag on the utility distribution system caused two of the three phases to drop below 80% of nominal for 1 second which would have caused production in the facility to stop.

The AVC at 26.4 kV corrected Line to Line Voltages to nominal—no loads were dropped during voltage sag and production continued without any problem.
